Joining us in September? It all starts here →

Mencap (Royal Mencap Society)
1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability. Our vision is for the UK to be the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to live happy and healthy lives. There is still so much to do so that people with a learning disability have the same rights as everyone else and are treated equally in society.

You'll be part of a diverse and inclusive team alongside volunteers with and without a learning disability, Representing Mencap and helping to promote our work and raise awareness for people with learning disabilities at this iconic London event.

The Marathon takes place on Sunday 2nd October. Our cheer points are located at Tower Bridge (Mile 12) and Embankment (Mile 25) and we also need volunteers to support at the start and finish lines in Greenwich Park and The Mall, and the post race reception in St Martins In the Field.

Time commitment

All we need is for you to commit 3 - 4 hours to support our fantastic team of runners who are fundraising to change the lives of people with a learning disability, and you get to have a fun amazing day out talking in the atmosphere of the Marathon first hand right up close to the route!.
Application deadline
What measures have you put in place to ensure volunteers’ safety during COVID-19?
We will ask any volunteers who are feeling unwell or displaying any symptoms of Covid-19 to not come and volunteer on the day.

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working.

In addition, the team here at Students’ Union UCL Volunteering Service is here to support you throughout your volunteering journey – you can get in touch at any time with any questions, queries or problems you encounter.
